C’est hier qu’on a officialisé l’exposition « Yellow Pages ». Elle se tiendra à Station C jusqu’au 22 décembre prochain. J’espère que tous ceux qui n’ont pu assister au vernissage viendront faire un tour !

Lately, I collaborated (as a DTPer) on Gyz La Rivière’s latest project called “Yellow Pages“. They are screen-prints made of yellow and black. I think it’s really cool and I LOVE his shoes.

Believe it or not, I might even have the time to go see it live in Rotterdam before the end of April.

Gyz La Rivière, whom I’ve talked about a few times in this blog, has a very nice project for the city of Rotterdam that I wanted to share with you my dear readers.

Has you might know, Rotterdam was almost completely destroyed during the second world war. A lot of people went to live elsewhere while others stayed to rebuild it. Ossip Zadkine has made a sculpture to recall this event: “The Destroyed City” (1953) which stands as a symbol of Rotterdam. It is a man yelling and looking a the sky with his arms lifted up and a hole where his heart should be. You can see a few pictures of the sculpture here and here. (When I was living in Rotterdam back in 2006, the sculpture was taken away for restoration. It normally stands in the middle of the old port (Leuvehaven) and I think it’s back to it’s place now.)

Since the symbol of Rotterdam is a man without a heart, Gyz has decided to bring the heart back (because Rotterdam now has a heart and is very lively). I found this project very touching and beautiful. You can find more info by visiting his website.

Meanwhile, Gyz has sent me a few pictures of the Chabot Museum which is now closed due to renovations and where his ‘Jan Hart’ project is exposed for everyone to see.

Enfin! Il était temps! Le Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal s’est doté d’un nouveau site web après avoir passé plusieurs années avec le même, tout droit sorti des années ’90.

Petit bémol, le site n’est pas tout à fait « web standards » : la grille est construite avec des tableaux plutôt qu’avec des DIV. Qu’est-ce qui a motivé ce choix? Est-ce l’ignorance des courants actuels, les bugs d’IE déconcertants ou l’intention d’optimiser le site pour Netscape 4? Je me questionne…

Quoi qu’il en soit, ça fait du bien au coup d’oeil. Vivement le blanc et la structure!

Vernissage de l’exposition «Electromagnetic Bodies» hier à la galerie TENT de Rotterdam : des oeuvres multimédia, pour la plupart interactives.

Je me promène et j’entends une fille parler québécois. Ça me fait drôle. Par la suite, j’entends un homme (Stéphane Claude de AElab) parler anglais avec un accent québécois. C’est que cette exposition regroupe une bonne partie d’artistes québécois/canadiens dont Marie-Jeanne Musiol, Paulette Phillips — dont l’oeuvre Homewrecker #1 est tout à fait hypnotisante — et Jean-Pierre Aubé.

Exposition fascinante où la technologie est combinée avec la créativité, l’interactivité, le son, l’image.

La soirée est ensuite passée au V2 où nous avons pu assister à un concert de cactus et d’autres instruments naturels.
